The staff at Grant UK were once again busy throughout 2018 raising money for Julia’s House, a local children’s charity. Over the course of the year, these fundraising activities helped raise £3,000 which the Company presented to Julia’s House in January.
Grant UK’s 2018 fundraising activities varied from specialty lunches and bake sales through to a staff raffle held prior to Christmas. The events included a ‘Great Grant Bake Off’, the celebration of ‘National Doughnut Day’ and supporting the Julia’s House annual Winter Ball. The mix of activities enabled all staff to get involved either by making delicious homemade treats, donating by buying items, or by attending and supporting Julia’s House events.
The year’s fundraising culminated with a large raffle which was open to staff only. Local businesses, suppliers and Grant UK all donated prizes with some of them worth up to £150. The raffle prizes included luxury food hampers, a boutique night away stay, an Amazon Fire Tablet, gift vouchers, theatre tickets and much more. Throughout December, staff bought their tickets and the big draw took place the week before Christmas. In total, the raffle raised over £800 which is the largest amount of money that Grant UK has generated from a single fundraising event.
Grant UK started its support for Julia’s House in late 2016. Since then, the Company has donated over £5,000 to this charity whose work is focused on supporting seriously ill children and their families throughout Dorset and Wiltshire. In early 2017, Julia’s House opened their second hospice which is dedicated to supporting children with life-limiting conditions. The first of its kind in the county, Julia’s House opened their Wiltshire hospice in Devizes with the premises being only a few minutes from Grant UK’s Headquarters. The charity and its cause is, therefore, well known to all at the Company.
Ged Montgomery, one of the chief fundraisers at Julia’s House, has worked closely with Grant UK since 2016. Ged writes, “Julia’s House is incredibly grateful to the team at Grant UK for all of their support over the past couple of years. All the contributions from Grant UK, including the recent donation of chocolate selection boxes just before Christmas, and the prizes they donated to the Julia’s House Auctions and Raffles have all been very generous.”
Fundraising and charity events have developed over recent years at Grant UK, with the Company increasing its support for local causes. “Everyone here at Grant UK has joined in with raising funds for Julia’s House since we started our support for this charity,” concludes Paul Wakefield, Managing Director at Grant UK. “Julia’s House and all the work it does is an incredibly worthy cause and this is just one of the reasons why our staff have donated their time and money so generously. This latest donation of £3,000 is a wonderful amount raised and we hope that it will help Julia’s House to continue their excellent work.”
