Installers have been fitting Grant’s efficient heating products for over four decades. After fifteen years of supplying air source heat pumps, Grant has launched its fifth generation heat pump range – the Aerona 290.
Combining sleek aesthetics with impressive performances and using the more environmentally friendly R290 refrigerant, the Grant Aerona 290 air-to-water heat pump range comprises of five models with 4kW, 6.5kW, 9kW, 12kW and 15.5kW single phase heating outputs available. Designed with installers in mind, the Aerona 290 heat pumps all achieve an A+++ ErP energy rating (at 35°C water flow temperature), have excellent SCOPs, are Quiet Mark approved and have been rated at -5°C air temperature and 55°C water flow temperature. The Aerona 290 range is also available with a 7 year guarantee when installed by a G1 Installer (T&Cs apply).
To support heating engineers and their businesses transition into the renewables sector, Grant UK’s Training Academy delivers a wide selection of courses including free heat pump product training as well as industry qualifications such as OFTEC and ERS. Amongst our course catalogue includes a free 1-day installer training course on the Grant R290 heat pump range. This course, which is available at training venues throughout England, Scotland and Wales, provides installers with the knowledge required to confidently install Grant’s latest air source heat pumps, covering the Aerona 290’s operation and specification, installation, commissioning and servicing as well as R290 refrigerant safe working practices and protection zones.
The number of air source heat pumps being installed is increasing each year as more homeowners look to reduce their carbon footprints and move away from fossil fuel heating systems. The Aerona 290 heat pumps provide installers with a reliable, more sustainable heat pump to fulfil the heating requirements of their customers and their different types of homes. The Aerona 290 range boasts a number of features and benefits, including:
R290 refrigerant gas is also known as Propane and it is a natural hydrocarbon. It has an incredibly low Global Warming Potential (GWP) value of 3 and this is one of the reasons why it is being increasingly used in air source heat pumps, such as the Grant Aerona 290. The GWP of R290 refrigerant is significantly lower than the GWP of other heat pump refrigerants (download our infographic here to view a comparison) and this means it is a more eco-friendly refrigerant as it remains in the atmosphere for less time. R290 refrigerant is used by R290 heat pumps in exactly the same way as other refrigerants, with the refrigerant entering a cycle of changing from liquid and gaseous states and transferring latent heat energy from the air outside into the heat pump system. R290 refrigerant has excellent thermodynamic properties which makes it very energy efficient and slightly more efficient than R32 refrigerant.
It is important to note that R290 refrigerant is flammable so installers must ensure they adhere to the safe practices and protection zones when installing an R290 heat pump.
