How do you set and change the hot water schedule using the Aerona Smart Controller?

Setting and changing the domestic hot water (DHW) schedule for a Grant Aerona air source heat pump system can be completed using the Aerona Smart Controller via the heat pump controller’s touchscreen display.

Setting the domestic hot water schedule on the Aerona Smart Controller

During the initial setup of the Aerona Smart Heat Pump Controller, the controller’s in-built configuration tool will prompt you to confirm whether there is a facility for domestic hot water in the system. Once the heat pump controller’s configuration setup has been completed, a default DHW schedule will be applied which you can adjust at any time.

To learn more about how to set up the Aerona Smart Heat Pump Controller, please watch our video tutorial here. Heat pump installers should also refer to the Aerona Smart Heat Pump Controller manual for further set-up support.

Adjusting the domestic hot water schedule on the Aerona Smart Controller

The preferred DHW schedule can be changed at any time after setup. First, select the timer icon (shown below) which is displayed on the left hand side display panel on the Aerona Smart Controller’s home screen.

Next, select ‘DHW’ from the menu to open the domestic hot water scheduler – here you can then start making changes to the DHW schedule.

Resetting the DHW schedule

Before you start to edit the schedule, you will need to reset the timer. Use the arrows to select a day of the week and then select ‘OFF’ towards the bottom of the screen. Next, hold the right button arrow to erase the time settings currently set up. Once everything is ‘off’, you can then begin to programme the times you want the hot water to come on to set your new DHW schedule.

Setting the new DHW schedule

To set the times that you want the hot water to come on, use the arrows to scroll to the correct time period. Each of the blocks on the timeline represent 30 minute increments. Once the correct time is showing on the screen, tap ‘ON’ towards the bottom of the screen to set the hot water to come on at that time. Then, use the right arrow to extend the time that you want the hot water to be on for.

When you have reached the time that you want the hot water to go off, tap ‘OFF’ and use the right arrow to move forward on the timeline, extending the time that the hot water is off.

Then simply repeat the above steps to programme additional time periods when the hot water is on.

Copying the DHW schedule across multiple days

Once you have set your new hot water schedule, you can copy it across to other days quickly and with ease. Press the ‘copy’ icon which is positioned towards the bottom of the screen and then select which days you want to copy the schedule to so that they follow the same DHW schedule. Once you have selected the days you want to copy the schedule to, tap the green tick to return back to the hot water schedule.

Once you have made the changes you need to make to the domestic hot water schedule, press the back arrow towards the top of the screen to return to the schedule screen. You can then return to the heating or hot water home screens by selecting the relevant icon on the left of the screen.
